Modeling Opportunities for Aspiring Models and Actors

Be My Muse and
Get Photos for FREE!

I am willing to hire beautiful models who LOVE my photography and are ENTHUSIASTIC about the chance to work for me. More than just a photography session, you will learn posing techniques which will make you successful at other photo shoots and makeup tricks to help minimize flaws.

I am very selective about the models I'm willing to hire for my projects, and models need to be serious and professional about showing up for any appointments they scheduled.
That being said, ENTHUSIASM and a willingness to pose for any of my project needs will normally earn models at least one shoot - even if they aren't young, buff, and beautiful.

Blunt Honesty

I am bluntly honest with models to save everyone time. I clearly list out my projects and compensation ranges, and any model wanting to do a photo shoot with me is expected to have a 30-minute phone conversation and interview - to make sure that all questions are answered up-front. At the photo shoots, I expect models to be bluntly honest - and I will be with them as well. Shoots are a great amount of fun, but we want the results to be spectacular, and this is only possible with honest, open, and direct communication.

Respect My Time

I expect models to be responsible and enthusiastic. I also expect models to be respectful of my time and my talent.

Consider carefully this great opportunity! You are getting my time and my photographs for FREE!
Normally clients pay me $160 per hour and then pay me an additional $40 for each photo I retouch for them. So... even if you spend an hour with me and get three retouched images, you are "earning" $280 worth of my time. If you work longer, you are obviously earning much more.

The most important thing to me is time. Time is MUCH more valuable than money - because you can't save time, or borrow time, or buy time.
And for me, time is money -- so if someone wastes my time (by setting up a shoot and then canceling on short notice - not giving me enough time to book someone else), that person is off my Christmas list permanently. I've lost time that I can never get back.

Unfortunately - some people treat the photo sessions as though I were a gas station -- open 24 hours, where you can just show up any time you feel like it, and there are no consequences for not showing up.
I can ONLY book one shoot at a time, and if that shoot doesn't happen - it is wasting a lot of my time and money. The consequence is that you likely won't get a second chance to make a first impression.

IF you set up an appointment to model for my projects - you need to be responsible about showing up. I will give you the same courtesy (when you show up, I'll be ready for your shoot).

I expect models to be willing to pose for work that is wilder, crazier, and much more revealing than the types of work that my clients pay me to take. I really don't need models for headshot samples and conservative fashion images -- since I already get those through my client shoots.

When I am paying you, you need to allow me to "be the boss," specifying the outfits, lighting, looks and poses. If you are doing a TFP shoot - then you'll need to do the first 2/3rds of the session doing the types of shots and looks I want you to do, and then at the end of the session I will turn things around and let "you be the boss" -- so that we all get the types of shots we are most wanting out of the photo shoot.

Respect My Rules

GUESTS: I will allow female models to bring along another adult female as a "safety friend" who can sit silently in a corner. No other guests are allowed.

CANCELATIONS: My time is extremely valuable. While I realize that "life happens," if you cancel less than 72-hours in advance, you are expected to send me $75 to cover the "shoot deposit" which clients need to pay (and which they forfeit if they can't complete their appointment). If you are unsure of your schedule, then DO NOT set up an appointment until you are sure.

REPOSTING OF IMAGES: Models choosing the CASH ONLY option may not use or repost any images from the shoot without prior express written permission from studio.

BE HERE FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S NEEDS: If you are paying me, then "You get to be the boss!" -- and you can wear what you like, have as many friends over as you wish, and do whatever types of posing you want. HOWEVER if I am paying you (either in images or cash, or both), then "I get to be the boss." You are here to pose for my project needs, and you need to be willing to do anything listed under the projects you are choosing to work.

ARE YOU READY TO BE A MODEL? If you are serious about modeling, then you ought to be willing to do ANY image found in magazines sold at WAL-MART (or pick your major grocery chain or department store).
The purpose in hiring a model is to have someone who can fulfill the client's / photographer's vision, and it is NOT about what the model likes or doesn't like. If you want it to be about your vision, then hire a capable photographer who can fulfill that vision.
If you are marketing yourself as a model, then you need to expect to see your images used publicly online. The reason for hiring a model (and having them sign a modeling release) is to be able to show and use the images from the photo shoot.

Any photographer stating anything to the contrary really doesn't have any professional experience and should not be handing out advice. (grin)

If you LOVE my work - you might be able to get some for free. I do offer some select opportunities for models, actors, and performers to pose for my project needs in order to get FREE portfolio material, or even earn cash. My interests are to get the VERY BEST shots from a shoot retouched and ready for public consumption. While other photographers hand over a DVD full of poorly lit and poorly composed images, models working me get a small selection of professionally retouched and portfolio-ready images.
It is NOT about getting the MOST images, it is about getting the BEST IMAGES.

Bring a Friend! - you are welcome to book your session with a friend who also has the looks and interests to work on these projects. Makes sure to mention your friend (and send pictures along) if you would like a group shoot.

Fashion, Glamour, and Art Shoots

Photo shoots normally run 2 to 5 hours of camera time (plus some additional time for make-up and hairstyling), although shoots can be shorter if needed. I normally allocate 60 to 90 minutes per project, and most models choose to work in 3 or 4 different projects at each shoot (to build out a longer shoot).
Shoots are completed weeknights (typically 6PM to midnight) and weekends (as available).

The amount of compensation (cash, images, or both) you would earn depends on the projects you decide to work, your age, your appearance, and your enthusiasm during the shoot.
For most projects - the makeup and hair is done for you and the outfits are provided.

Models CHOOSE which projects they are willing to work, and then a decision is made whether or not a model will be booked. Models who have no restrictions are much likelier to be hired.

The images on my public websites are "workplace safe." I try to restrict the distribution of the nude images to those models and clients who are interested in posing for similar work.

How To Apply

Send an email to james @ AMPStars.com with:
Most models work 2 to 4 different projects at each shoot, including ending the shoot with the "Model's Choice" to get updated headshots and images in business or more conservative outfits.
This allows models to get the types of images they desire most after posing for my project needs.
Models working multiple projects for the cash compensation option will be paid based upon the amount of time spent in each project.

After emailing your information and photos - you can phone me at 612-741-8122.

Model's Choice - model chooses own outfits and styling of the outfits. Essentially this project allows models to "control" what they are wearing and how they are posing. Posing for this project happens at the end of a shoot - when a model is completing the other projects. It also can be used alone at the very first photo shoot a model has with the studio (as a means to give the model experience working for the studio).

Casting Requirements:
OPEN -- Models are expected to complete 2/3rds of the session time on other studio projects - and then this project at end of shoot.

Compensation

Locations-
Additional Compensation Opportunity
- If a model will provide their home, business, or property as a site for a group photo shoot, they will earn additional retouched images from their photo shoot.

Locations should have interesting architecture, furniture, or outdoor settings and provide visually interesting elements for a photo shoot. Locations do not need to be very large - a single room with interesting furniture or architecture could suffice. The model must own or control the property (you cannot volunteer a business site at which you work / you would need to get permission from the owner). Any indoor locations will have to have adequate A/C power (for use of studio lighting equipment). Outdoor locations must be on private property (again with the permission of the land-owner).

Compensation
$15 cash + $5 for each additional model using the site.
